What Character from the Wheel of Time Are You?
Perrin Aybara
Perrin is thoughtful, careful, and strong. Since he's always been bigger and stronger than others, he's learned to control his temper and actions so as to not hurt others. A blacksmith, he wishes he could return to his forge, but he is ta'veren; the Wheel requires him to help fight the last battle and will put him where he needs to be to do so. On his journey, Perrin wolf abilities unfold: he can communicate with wolves and has sharpened hearing and smell. He also has access to the Wolf Dream, or Tel'aran'rhiod. Family is important to Perrin, and he often says that Faile, his wife, always comes first. Perrin is a natural leader but struggles to see himself as anything other than a blacksmith, despite his many accomplishments. He learns to set aside his doubts and grow into the leader he was meant to be.
Berelain sur Paendrag Paeron
Beautiful, clever, and wiley, Berelain is the queen of the small kingdom of Mayene. Neighbors with the much larger kingdom of Tear, she's used her charms and mind to keep her kingdom safe from Tear's greedy leaders. She uses her beauty to get what she wants, but she is fiercely protective of her people. She pledges to follow Rand, the Dragon Reborn, and is instrumental in the Last Battle.
Elyas Machera
Elyas, a former warder, is a wolf brother who can communicate with wolves and has enhanced senses. He is an expert tracker, hunter, and fighter. He teaches Perrin much about the wolves when Perrin's abilities start manifesting, and protects Perrin and Egwene despite not knowing them well. Steady and strong, Elyas is a loyal friend and a wise mentor.
Faile Bashere
Faile, formerly Zarine, is in line for the throne of Saldaea but runs away from home to experience adventure. Trained in court intrigue, leadership, feminine arts, and knives, Faile discovers that she isn't as prepared for the world as she thought she was, and she is more like a spoiled child than a ruler. Meeting and marrying Perrin, followed by countless trials, molds her into a leader who is able to protect and guide her people. Extremely supportive of her husband, she often says that it is a wife's duty is to spy, and she is willing to things her husband may shy away from to protect her people. She's also not afraid of disagreeing with Perrin, and that famous Saldaea temper certainly shines through in their arguments, which, in true Saldaea fashion, she enjoys having.
Matrim Cauthon
Mat just wants to have fun, but he is ta'veren, so the Wheel will pull him to where he is needed to defeat the Dark One. Mat's ta'veren nature manifests in his extremely good luck, and he can often be found in taverns with a cup of dice, replenishing his gold, and flirting with the prettiest girl there. But despite professing never wanting to fight, he will always run head first into a fight to protect those he cares about. While he is mischievous, loves a good joke, and flouts authority, he also always keeps his word. Gifted the memories of past generals by the Eelfinn (it's a long story), Mat becomes a master tactician, where he can use his luck on a much grander scale.
Tuon/Fortuona
Tuon Athaem Kore Paendrag is a Seanchan and a descendant of Artur Hawkwing. Daughter and heir of the Empress of Seander, she becomes the Empress herself after the death of her mother. Raised in a cutthroat society where members of the Blood are expected to assassinate each other (as long as it's in secret) to gain power, Tuon is crafty, confident, and quick. She is very small and often mistaken for a child at a distance, but she, of course uses this to her advantage. Trained in hand combat, she can more than take care of herself, but she also engenders devotion in her followers with her kindness and attention. Like the rest of the Blood, she carefully watches for omens to guide her actions. She also loves to train and ride horses.
Talmanes Delovinde
Talmanes is a Cairhienin noble who joins the Band of the Red Hand after Mat saves his army on a chaotic battlefield. Second-in-command to Mat Cauthon, Talmanes shows his leadership and skills in tactics and battle over and over, as well as his impressive determination and loyalty. Some may say he doesn’t have a sense of humor, but in actuality, his humor is just very dry, and Mat comments that he often seems to be laughing on the inside.
Loial
Loial is a young Ogier (only about 90 years old) who wanted to see for himself what he’d read about in books. Said to be “hasty” (for an Ogier), he left his stedding before the Great Stump gave him permission to go (he was to young to go without permission, but they probably would have deliberated for a year or two more), and meets Rand, the Dragon Reborn. He decides to travel with Rand, certain that marvelous things will happen in the company of the Dragon Reborn, and determined to write his own book on the events. Loial often carries many books in his pockets, and he is well-read; he has a lot of knowledge but often will take a very long time to get to the point if you ask him to explain something. He is also a very gifted treesinger, growing plants with his songs. Mild mannered and slow to anger, Loial is nevertheless an impressive and frightening fighter when he faces shadowspawn.
Tallanvor
Moiraine Damodred
Moiraine is an Aes Sedai, a woman who wield the One Power. She has dedicated her life to finding the Dragon Reborn and preparing him for the last battle. Her calm, cold exterior hides an inner kindness and compassion. She’ll do whatever it takes to defeat the Dark One. Even if that means swallowing her pride, turning away from love, or taking actions that lead to the deaths of innocents. Resourceful and powerful, Moiraine is able to kill two of the Forsaken, and survive encounters with two others.
Thom Merrilin
Thom, previously a court bard, is now just a simple gleeman. His skills with the flute, harp, and storytelling transfix his listeners. He has considerable historical knowledge, as well as the cunning to use that knowledge. He excels at gathering information while acting as a harmless gleeman and is able to discover the political climate as well as how to exploit it. Moiraine remarked that he could play Daes Dae'mar (the very layered and dangerous game of social maneuvering played mainly in Cairhien) in his sleep. Thom is loyal and supportive to his friends. Despite his skills, he always plays a supportive role, working from the shadows.
Siuan Sanche
Siuan was a fisher girl and had a rough past, but she becomes the youngest Amyrlin Seat (the leader of the Aes Sedai) in the history of the White Tower. She plots with Moiraine to find and help the Dragon Reborn, despite knowing that discovery could lead to her stilling and death. Siuan puts her mission to defeat the Dark One before any other oaths or desires, and will do whatever it takes to accomplish it. Despite her abrasive tongue, she is a skilled and cunning manipulator, and she turns situations to her advantage even when all seems lost.
Gareth Bryne
Captain-General of the Queen’s Guard, Bryne is known as one of five great captains, the finest general in the Westlands. He is also a blade master. Steady, calm, confident, and honest, Bryne doesn’t allow others to rile him or change his mind once he has come to a decision. He keeps his word and doesn’t sugar-coat the truth. He becomes the general of the rebel Aes Sedai army, and is loyal to Egwene.
Cadsuane Melaidhrin
Cadsuane, the oldest living Aes Sedai and a member of the Green Ajah, is legendary among the Aes Sedai. Some even say that Cadsuane will not die until the last hint of adventure is gone. Her impressive past, her complete confidence, her extensive knowledge, and her control of her emotions garners respect from all who meet her, and the other sisters regard her with awe. She becomes an advisor to the Dragon Reborn and helps him learn an important lesson that is instrumental in the last battle.
Logain Ablar
Logain is a tall, handsome man with dark hair. He is a false Dragon who declared himself as the Dragon Reborn but was captured and gentled by the Aes Sedai, cutting him off from the One Power. While gentling usually ends in suicide, Logain keeps himself going with his anger and desire for revenge. When his gentling is healed, he joins the Black Tower, where he becomes a leader opposed to Taim’s oppressive hand. Here he shows his determination to do what is right, as well as his care and concern for those weaker under him or those under his care. Logain willingly shoulders massive responsibility to save others, and his inner core of strength shines through again and again.
Leane Sharif
Leane, an Aes Sedai from Arad Doman, was the Keeper of the Chronicles, where she was capable, brisk, and well-organized. After her stilling that cut her off from the One Power, and made her appear young again, she struggled to find purpose (many commit suicide after stilling). She began to practice the Domani arts of seduction that she had spurned as a young woman. Tall, willowy, graceful, and beautiful, she uses her looks and her sharp mind to help Siuan guide the rebel Aes Sedai to the right course of action.
Nynaeve al'Meara
Nynaeve was the Wisdom of Emond’s Field but left her life behind to travel with and protect Rand, Mat, Perrin, and Egwene. She discovers that she can channel and is one of the strongest channelers alive, and she studies in the White Tower to become an Aes Sedai so she can help others. As the youngest Wisdom in the Two Rivers, and one of the youngest sisters to gain the shawl, she often feels her lack of gray hairs leads to others disrespecting her and her position. But she’s up to the task; she refuses to allow others to walk over her, and is passionate in her beliefs. She’s also not afraid of berating someone who has acted foolishly or bullying someone into taking care of themselves or doing what is right. Her care and concern for others guide her actions, and lead her to practice new ways of healing with the One Power. Nynaeve firmly believes there is nothing short of death that the One Power cannot heal.
al'Lan (Lan) Mandragoran
Lan is the final surviving heir of Malkieri, a borderland that has fallen to the Shadow, its people massacred when he was only an infant. A sword master, Lan wages a one-man war against the shadow and vows he will return to Malkieri to avenge his people—alone, because he will not lead people to their certain death. He puts off his war to help Moiraine in her quest to find the Dragon Reborn and save the world, becoming her warder. Lan has a strong sense of duty and morals. Described as having a face of stone, with chilling blue eyes, his impassive face hides humor and passion. Lan trains the Dragon Reborn in the sword and is a mentor and friend to him. He tells Rand, “Death is lighter than a feather. Duty, heavier than a mountain.”
Rand al'Thor
Elmindreda (Min) Farshaw
Min hates the name she was born with (Elmindreda, which is the name of a character in a story who spends most of her time sighing over men) and instead goes by Min. She is short but slender, with short brown hair and dark eyes. While she is very attractive, she refuses to wear confining dresses and instead dresses in breeches and coats, with a pair of heeled boots. Min often wears a wry, mysterying grin and is quick to find the humor in situations. She carries many knives on her person and, while she isn’t a trained fighter, she can use them well. She is loyal and protects those she cares for no matter what. Min also has the ability to see pieces of the Pattern, which manifests as seeing auras and images around people. Her viewings tell her things about the person’s present and future, though she doesn’t always know what the images mean.
Elayne Trakand
Elayne is the Daughter Heir of Andor and strong in the One Power. She trains in the Tower to become an Aes Sedai. Beautiful, with blue eyes and red-gold hair, she also has a sharp mind and is well prepared to take the throne of Andor. She has a queenly bearing and is intelligent and stubborn but also a peacemaker who tries to see all sides to a disagreement. Elayne has compassion for friends and her people but is cut-throat and clever when it comes to securing the interests of Andor.
Birgitte Silverbow
Birgitte is a legendary hero and archer, who is reborn again and again when the world needs her. Bound to the Horn of Valere to fight when it is sounded, she resides in Tel'aran'rhiod between her lives. There she sees the Forsaken stirring and breaks the rule of not revealing herself so she can help Nynaeve and Elayne fight the Forsaken. Vulnerable in Tel'aran'rhiod (her death there means removal from the pattern and never seeing her soul mate again), she nevertheless risks her soul to save Nynaeve, and as a result is torn out of Tel'aran'rhiod and thrown into the real world. Elayne bonds Birgitte as a Warder to save her life, and Birgitte works hard to help Elayne prepare for the Last Battle. Her skills with the bow are unparalleled. Loyal, honest, and trustworthy, Birgitte is confident, quick to forgive, and independent. But she is also a soldier with a somewhat crude sense of humor, and she also enjoys drinking and gambling. She makes time for fun but will also put herself at risk to protect others.
Sebban Balwer
Balwer was the secretary and secret spymaster to the head of the Whitecloaks, Pedron Niall. After Niall’s death, Balwer attaches himself to Perrin and proves his worth with his uncanny ability to gather information and discern truth from falsehood. Loyal and hard working, Balwer prefers to work in the background while those he serves get the credit.
Aviendha
Aviendha a member of Far Dareis Mai, the society of women warriors among the Aiel (a race of people with customs that are very different from the rest of the world’s, since they have lived isolated on in the Waste for more than 3,000 years). She reluctantly gives up the spear to study as a Wise One. In her studies, she learns to control the One Power with a precision that few Aes Sedai achieve. She also learns to set aside her original instincts to solve problems with violence (although she is not afraid of doing violence when necessary) and take actions that will best lead to the future she is working toward. Her humor is often seen as strange. She has a strong sense of honor and is brave and strong, facing her fears no matter what.
Egwene al'Vere
Daughter of the mayor of the small town of the Two Rivers, Egwene longed for adventure. Used to getting her way—and prepared with plans to do so—she convinces Moiraine to take her with them when Moiraine, Lan, Rand, Mat, and Perrin leave the Two Rivers. She discovers she is strong in the One Power and goes to the White Tower to train as an Aes Sedai. Her strong will shines through when she is captured by the Seanchan, who try to break her. She is the first Aes Sedai Dreamer in nearly 500 years, and studies with the Aiel to master Dreamwalker. There, she gains a strong sense of honor, as well as a respect for channelers in other cultures. When she is raised as a puppet Amyrlin to the rebel Aes Sedai, she uses her sharp mind and determination to make them accept her as Amyrlin in more than name, and she becomes a strong leader who unites the White Tower.
Silviana Brehon
Silviana is an Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah. Strict, with a no-nonsense attitude, she is nevertheless fair and kind-hearted under her exterior of steel. During her tenure as Mistress of Novices, she took seriously her charge to mold the novices into Aes Sedai, with fair if harsh punishments. Silviana is also very intelligent and willing to listen to viewpoints that don’t match her own. She risks her life to speak on Egwene’s behalf—even going so far as to reprimand the Hall and demand justice—because of Elaida’s unfair treatment of Egwene. Like most members of the Red Ajah, she distrusts most men, and would rather stand on her own, without the support of a Warder.
Setalle Anan
Setalle owns an inn in Ebou Dar, a city of quick tempers and many duels. She is married and has 5 adult children, and she runs her inn efficiently, with a no-nonsense attitude. She has a soft spot for women in trouble and goes out of her way to help many of them, even when that help requires leaving her family for a time and risking her life. Setalle is intelligent, trustworthy, and unafraid of hardship. She has a sharp mind and is quick to discover truth in situations.
Graendal
Graendal is one of the Forsaken. She is obsessed with beauty and surrounds herself with the most beautiful and powerful people she can't find, crushing their will with Compulsion so they completely adore her. Beautiful herself, she uses her charms as one of her many ways of manipulating others. As a renowned psychologist who practiced for nearly 400 years before pledging her soul to the Dark One, Graendal is also proficient in subtler forms of Compulsion, as well as creating intricate plots using her deep understanding of human nature.
Demandred
Demandred is handsome but hook-nosed, with black hair. He is one of the Forsaken. Extremely arrogant—perhaps with good reasons, with his many talents—he is a master swordsman, and one of the best tacticians alive. Angry that he always seemed to come second to Lewis Therin, except in warfare, he swore his soul to the Dark One out of jealousy. He also has no sense of humor. While Demandred simmers with anger, he keeps it tightly controlled under a stoic demeanor. He treats those around him as merely tools, consumed by his desire to destroy the Dragon Reborn.
